Resident Spotlight!!!
We enjoy spotlighting our residents not only to recognize their accomplishments but to give others struggling with addiction hope.
Meet Jake, he is a passionate individual who strives to serve others through those passions. Read more below to learn about Jake:
Describe what music has done for your recovery?
"Music has given me a healthy outlet to express myself and boost my confidence and my mood. It's offered a healthy alternative to **** to work through difficult emotions." How do you see your love for music impacting others?
"It's a great way to make new friends and really inspire others with things that words can't really describe. I found that I get to live vicariously through their reactions to music, because each beat and each song can be different to each person. I get to create spiritual experiences for others." What do want others seeking recovery to know about the power of music?
"I want them to know that there are alternative coping methods. Even if you have entry level or mastery level experience with music, there are benefits to just creating. There are anti-depressive effects, it can help you find a way to connect to your peers & to people who are like-minded. Personally I use music to really experience my emotions, sometimes privately, sometimes publicly, in order to work through what I am feeling in a safe way."
