Depending on the trim, Dodge included high performance and fuel conscious engine options. The base SE and SXT trims came with either a 2.7 or 3.5 liter V6, producing 190 and 250 horsepower respectively, which provided reliable smooth acceleration and could easily be used on a daily basis. The muscle option was the R/T which came with a 5.7 liter HEMI V8 which made 340 horsepower, thus providing the Charger with that iconic power and aggressive exhaust sound.
