1987 Cuevas Road Bike - Includes: Cinelli handlebars, Campagnolo front & rear hubs, Campagnolo quick release wheel skewers, Dura Ace Crank (53/42, comes with interchangeable 38), Dura Ace front & rear derailleurs, Dura Ace SIS shifters, Mavic MA-40 rims, Panaracer tires. 8 speed Free wheel (12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21). Bike frame 22" (center of crank to top of seat post) was hand made by the famous bike maker from Spain, “Cuevas” using the Reynolds steel alloy bike frame factory’s rare 853 Reynolds and a Cinelli bottom bracket shell. This bike was specially ordered to be made for me by the late Al Toefeld, United States Cycling Federation Vice President in the 1980’s. This grade of steel was only used for my bike and no other. 853 is based on a specially developed maraging seamless air-hardening heat-treated steel stainless steel alloy that can achieve a tensile strength (UTS) in excess of 1400 MPa, density 7.78 g/cm3, giving a good strength-to-weight ratio. Because of the high strength of the steel, extremely thin tube walls (down to 0.3 mm) were used, thus reducing the weight. The frame alone cost $3,000 back in 1987. Entire bike weighs 23 lbs. Selling bike with everything mentioned for $1,000.
