This car is the 1980 Triumph TR7 Spider Edition.
The final special edition TR7 was probally the most stylish and a small number survive in concourse condition. All Spiders were convertibles, and only 1208 were built at Canley in 1980. Black paint, contrasted with red laurel wreath front decal, red pinstrping and the word Spider in red ahead of the rear wheel. Special alloy wheels and a stereo radio with cassette were added and all had air conditioning units. The interior was special, and as well as the padded leather and satin finish steering wheel and Bosch Fog lights. TR7 Spider are now sought after vehicles, as befits their status as the ultimate TR7 Special Edition.
All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. I can’t believe this fantastic find Even I get excited thinking about this car Up for bids is one incredible 55125 ORIGINAL MILE, third OWNER 1977 TR7 with extra factory goodies. We bought this car from its very meticulous, original owner nearly two years ago. We just put in a new battery and this baby fired right up with no help what so ever, went to a PERFECT idle straight away, put in the clutch and drove it down the road. If you have ever wanted to drive a brand new TR7 and missed your chance, well here it is again
Ok, lets describe the car. 1st the interior. WOW The absolutely perfect white headliner looks like the wrapping was just taken off, new ones don’t even look this good NOT A SINGLE FLAW, stain, rip or ANY DEFECT what so ever. The factory installed sunroof slides open on perfect tracks effortlessly. When opened, it looks like day one The driver and passenger door glass are so perfect and clear that you almost can’t tell they’re up Not a single scratch. The same thing with the EXTREMLEY rare hard to find two tone sun visors which look like they have never ever even been touched. The front and rear glasses are almost as perfect. The ORIGINAL TRIPLE*** front windshield has NO chips, cracks or wiper marks. The factory clock ticks away perfect time. The COMPLETE interior dash looks BRAND NEW. All switches, lights, even the lights in the door panel work perfect. The Beige factory code AAA interior is extremely nice. The seats and door panels have no rips, tear or heavy stains and show only SLIGHT wear. The factory original brown carpet and multi colored floor mats look like brand new The center console has a period “Realistic” AM/FM cassette stereo radio with door speakers that even for today’s technology sounds great The knobs are all there and do not appear to be broken. The heater fan works perfect at all 3 speeds. About the ONLY flaw I can find in the interior is the rear parcel panel does have a few warps in it as most usually do. If you don’t look behind, you will think you are in a brand new car
The body: WOW WOW WOW, again. All I can say is this car is unbelievable The factory coded CAA Carmine paint looks like it just rolled off the floor after a few test drives. I have gone over the body and found on the front valence panel 7 very small chips that have retouched up with original color paint, otherwise on the right side of the car there are 3 very small door dings. On a car 31 years old, the paint looks like its 3 years old and with a little elbow grease it could look like day one The rear turn lamp lenses look BRAND NEW. No discoloration, cracks or ANY FLAW. The rest of the lamps are the same way including the FACTORY installed Amber fog lamps. The front and rear bumper have NOT A SINGLE scratch or defect in them and look like new. What little body chrome the car has, is all in great condition. The car has the factory-installed luggage rack in great condition with virtually no signs of wear.
The wheels and hubcaps are also in excellent condition with not a single sign of curbing. The car has its factory original Goodyear tires mounted in front and a set of almost new off branded tires on the rear. The spare is also a Goodyear tire with a jack and handle in its original black plastic case that looks like it was used once The rubber strap that holds the tool kit to the spare is present and also looks like new. Upon opening the trunk, I did notice the light did not go on, I will check it to see what the issue may be.
The Electrical system: All I can say is that Mr. Lucas has NOT VISITED THIS CAR Every switch, light, lamp, buzzer works to perfection with the exception of the boot light (again I will see if I can fix it). The car comes with an aftermarket bra for the front valence and an original owners Manuel. The car also wears its original California issued period blue license plates.
Mechanical: Well let’s just say that there are NO MECHANICAL ISSUES, NONE to be found. I did only drive this car around the block and not on the freeway, being I have been in this business for 28 years, I can tell a good car from bad, and believe me this is ONE GREAT CAR I don’t think that I have ever seen as nice of a car as this one, not even back in the days when we were repairing them when they were 3 or 4 years old. This car ran and drove FLAWLESSY with no creaks, squeaks, rattles or vibrations. The 5-speed transmission, clutch and brakes, work to perfection. The previous owner did install an aftermarket remote oil filter. The original exhaust system sounds great with no leaks
I believe that if an original set of tires could be procured, this car entered into a Concourse under the original category could very well place very high on the list. This car has been very well taken care of, stored indoors and not abused in its very low driven miles. Cars like this are very few and far between. To find one in this condition so late in life is very rare indeed. PLEASE DO NOTE that this is still a 31 year old car and there will OBVIOSLY be some signs of the car being this old.
Triumphs Only will be in the next few months, selling off many of the cars in our collection.
